Is It Time For a New Gas Fireplace?

gas-fireplace

Living in this part of the country has its perks–the main one being that we don’t have to deal with freezing cold temperatures this time of year. The weather here does still get chilly of course but we have a lot more leeway when it comes to selecting our heating systems. We can select an option that provides just enough heat on those days when the temperatures are uncomfortable, rather than one that is going to do battle with snow and gale-force winds.

Sometimes, rather than turning on your heat pump or furnace, you can enjoy the luxury of simply kicking on your gas fireplace. These systems are great for heating in Pensacola, FL because they can provide a good deal of warmth and some great ambiance to go with it. No ductwork needed.

Why You Should Love Your Gas Fireplace

Some people may look at their gas fireplace and feel like it is “fake” compared to a wood-burning one. However, we think there is plenty to love if you have one of these systems in your home. You never have to worry about cleaning up and disposing of ashes or soot. You never need to buy or chop up wood logs. Plus, gas fireplaces are incredibly efficient. What’s not to love?

How to Tell Your Gas Fireplace Needs Help

Just like any other heating system, gas fireplaces have a limited lifespan. They won’t last forever! That is why it is good to know what the indicators are that your system needs to retire so you know when to reach out to us. You’ll need to plan for a fireplace replacement if you notice these warning signs:

  • Old age: As we said before, your gas fireplace won’t last forever. If your system is getting to be older, around 10 years or so, it can be a good idea to discuss a replacement.
  • Increasing repair needs: Repairs will pop up every now and then. Frequent repairs for a gas fireplace that you only use a couple of times a year are a sign of trouble. Usually, if you need frequent fixes, it is better to plan for a replacement.
  • The fireplace doesn’t work: Perhaps you inherited your gas fireplace with your home but you have never been able to use this system. The former tenants may have shut off the fireplace when they couldn’t keep up with increasing repair needs. Or perhaps the fireplace simply stopped working. In either case, getting a technician out to check on things is the best option.
  • You are interested in an upgrade: Several years ago gas fireplaces weren’t very commonplace. Today however these systems are in homes across the world and the technology they use has improved by leaps and bounds. If you have an older gas fireplace, an upgrade may improve its efficiency, effectiveness, and physical appearance too.
